Koločep

Is a great island for walking. A gentle path connects Donje Čelo set around a superb natural harbour, and pretty Gornje Čelo, with its lovely sandy beach on the southeast side. More paths strike out into the fragrant forests of the interior, or drop into isolated rocky bays – there is also a "blue cave"to be explored by swimmers.Lush subtropical vegetation thrives in this climate: pines, cypresses, palms, agaves, cacti, vines, lemon, orange, olive, almond, carob (made into brandy) and more, plus orchids and medical herbs. For history, the island's early prosperity is reflected in its superb pre-Romanesque churches.
